July 6, 2026, Meeting Minutes of BACP/BLUE 1. Review the Saturday, June 6, 2026 vigil demanding an end to the Iran War and Israel & genocide in Gaza. Only three attendees. 2. Review the BACP-BLUE table hosted at the Leech Lake Pride Event on Saturday, June 6. Enjoyable event but only a few contacts for such a long drive. Organizers seemed glad to have us there. Maybe Bemidji has a peace group that can table there regularly? 3. Review our participation in the Saturday, July 4th parade in Brainerd, MN. Good weather. Great reception from parade viewers. Next year will attempt better coordination between drummer/chanters and canned music. Sixteen people participated in the parade. Some 300 postcards were sent to our listserve inviting attendance with no success. 4. Review the May 16th Paul Douglas presentation in Nisswa. https://www.brainerddispatch.com/weather/meteorologist-paul-douglas-talks-climate-action-in-nisswa No one present attended the event. The above link goes to a good article about it that was published in the Brainerd Dispatch. 5. Discuss possibly holding a peace vigil in Little Falls this summer. This was discussed last meeting and is still supported. Larry is to reach out to contacts in Little Falls and try to arrange a date. 6. Discuss possibly changing the day of the week we hold our monthly meeting to accommodate those who cannot attend on the first Monday of the month. After discussion it was decided to change the day and time of the meetings. The meetings will now be held on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. 7. Discuss the possibility of sharing a booth with the BLA DSA at the Crow Wing County Fair. This is not an option as BLA DSA is unable to acquire, at this time, its status needed to purchase insurance, which is required for fair booths this year. 8. Discuss presenting the movie Trish had mentioned last month this summer. No one recalled the movie title but it was suggested that we try to show Earth’s Greatest Enemy, the documentary by Abby Martin. It has environmental and anti-war rhetoric. Barb with the Lakes Area Environmental Table has verbalized willingness to hold an event with us. Larry will follow-up on this obtaining the film and Dean will keep in touch with Barb. 9. "Arctic News" link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2372679678/Site Site recommended by Trish. 10. Reminder, the Crosby monthly protest is on every 3rd Saturday or July 18th this month! The next protest is July 18th from 1 to 2:30 p.m. 11. Treasure's Report $733.03 in account
